2 Week Dr. visit

Sonny had his first visit to the Dr. on Thursday when he was officially 2 weeks old. She said he is doing great and she is very impressed with him. He weighed 10 lb 3.5oz at that appointment and measured 23.25" tall. His height is off the chartsand has been since he was born. Not to mention he has grown 3/4 of an inch in two weeks. Maybe he is baby Shaq after all. I won't go into percentiles because Aunt B said that it is annoying when parents do that. As you can see we have a growing boy on our hands. I may have some more pictures when I charge my digital camera.

Lots Of Pics!

These are not gas smiles. This baby really smiles when you talk to him. I know that's not normal but it's true. We have witnesses.....

Today's Picture

The pictures would be more exciting if he could keep his eyes open for more than 10 minutes at a time. I'm not complaining though!! He looks a little like my Uncle Bill in this picture. Go figure.

Here's Sonny today and at 11 days old. What a sweet boy he is, and I say that because I'm not the one nursing him at all hours. xo Aunt Bren

All is Well

Hello everyone I'm back. I can't tell you how often you will hear from me for the next few weeks since I still can't sit actually I can sit but standing back up is the problem. I will try to keep you up to date with a photo or two.

Nelson is the best baby on the block and I'm not just saying that. He is really good and sleeps a lot. He has created a 3-4 hour eating schedule which is great and he is putting on weight like a champ. We had a visiting nurse over yesterday to check our progress and she was very impressed with both of us. When we left the hospital on Saturday Nelson weighed 8lb 12oz. He had lost a few ounces which is totally normal. The nurse yesterday said they expect a 4-7oz weight gain in the first week. Well the pork chop weighed in at 9lb 6oz. Do you think he is missing any meals? I don't!

My digital camera battery is dead and I just accidentally deleted all the pictures I took of him this moring so when it is charged I will update. I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Ducky outfit!

This is aunt Bren with another small update just to keep you entertained. Uncle Steve and I just got back from Maine today with a few new photos (in the slideshow that's linked in Friday's post) and lots of baby time. He is just the best, most adorable, nicest little baby I've ever laid eyes on (and of course I'm not biased). Steph is busy but adjusting to him quickly, what with her years of practice, and Mike is a helpful and loving dad. They've had tons of company since getting home yesterday and are still happy to see people. The baby is currently in sleepy mode, seems to have blue eyes, and loves his outfit with the duck hood, pictured above. This is also my number one favorite baby getup ever created. Last night he woke up once at 2am and again at 6:30am to eat. He had his first bath at home yesterday which he seems to enjoy about as much as my dog Stella, except he didn't claw at my arms and try to leap from the tub, then rub his wet, hairy face non-stop up and down the livingroom carpet. I think Steph said little Nelson is 23 inches long, and she's already moved up from newborn diapers.

Steph will start updating as soon as she can, she's still doing well and as expected is a 'wicked awesome' mom. Goodnight! Aunt Brenna

More Baby Fun

Here's a quick little movie of Nelson getting his blood sugar tested, which he clearly enjoyed. It might be a little dark, and you'll have to give it a minute to download. He's coming home today, so look forward to an avalanche of photos!

Meet Nelson William!

Couldn't you just eat him up? And isn't he the spitting image of his mother, look at that tiny face, and those giant hands (ok those are probably from his dad)! No worries, there are more photos (and these are only off of one camera, we've got 3 more!!) Click here to see the full slideshow!

It's a Boy!

And he's huge! 9 lbs. 1 oz, Nelson William arrived just 4 hours after Steph began labor at about 8 p.m., surprising even the hospital attendants with his speed. Everyone is doing great, Steph did an awesome job and Mike hasn't stopped beaming. As soon as I can get pictures off my camera I'll post them. I forgot the stupid cord so check back tomorrow. The baby looks just like his mother and isn't a fan of having his blood sugar checked. He's got brown hair that may be wavy, giant feet and Steph's trademark pout. I can't wait to show him to you all. Actually I can't wait to get to bed, it's been a long day.

More tomorrow,
Aunt Brenna

Update - 8:35pm

Well the good news is that the baby is still on its way and both baby and Steph are doing well. The not as good news is that she's not being induced until tomorrow morning, so we'll have to wait a little longer for The Lima Bean to arrive. Watch this space for more details as they come in. Thanks,
Bren

GET EXCITED!

This is Bren, fresh off the phone with Steph. She had her appointment today and Dr. W has decided to induce her. Right now she's heading to pick up Mike and collect her things, then it's off to the hospital! Please send your prayers and wishes her way, but please don't call, they're making calls as fast as they can and you can imagine it's a very hectic time right now. xoxo Bren

Don't Get Excited

I'm just adding a post to let everyone know I am still here (home) and yes, still pregnant. I am getting more uncomfortable as the days pass but I think it is all in my head just knowing I am over the due date. Very anxious for the arrival!

I just want to let all the constant callers know NOBODY will be forgotten. Nobody has called you because nothing has happened. Sorry to sound soooo annoyed but I can only answer the questions "no baby yet?" or "are you still pregnant?" or "when are you gonna' have that kid?" so many times before I go completely nuts. If I am home when you call and you heard nothing about a home birth plan then there is a pretty good chance that yes I am still pregnant. You may not be the first to know since everyone won't fit in the delivery room but I can promise you will all know via website or telephone that the baby has arrived. Oh, and just because we don't answer the phone does not mean we are at the hospital. I could very possibly be sleeping next to the phone since my days of rest are coming to an end VERY SOON!!! We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and can't wait to spread the news, believe me!

For all of you patient non-callers, we all appreciate it very much. If you are wondering how I am doing, feel free to call but if you are calling to ask if I am still pregnant, please wait for someone to call you or check here. Everyone has been assigned a call list of family members and Brenna is on website duty so you will all find out one way or the other. The grandmothers-to-be are as excited to call everyone they know as I am to meet my new baby. It has to be by the end of this week or I will be induced so by Monday you will all know what happened. Is that soon enough?

Thank you all in advance for your cooperation. We really appreciate it!! Hopefully we will be able to deliver the good news soon. I know you are all anxious and concerned and we appreciate it but we will not forget anyone. Thank you and wish me a fast labor. The more you wish the sooner you get the news.

p.s. yes I am a grouchy overdue pregnant lady if any of you were wondering.

41 Weeks Ugh!

Okay so I'm still pregnant. I am making minute progress though. I had an ultrasound today and it was a bit scary. The sonographer told me the estimated weight of the baby which is a whopping 8lb 12oz. Yeah so is it too late to change my mind? His or her feet are 3 inches long and the sonographer told us not to bother with newborn socks. Holy crap! He or she does have some hair but she said it looked like fuzz, not too much but enough to see on an ultrasound. Today the heart was a bit faster than usual at 154 beats per minute.

Next I got to see the nurse she tells me my blood pressure was higher than normal. I asked her how her blood pressure would be hearing that the baby she was preparing to push out was close to 9 pounds. She agreed that today's blood pressure was very possibly related to the news of the baby's estimated weight. She also told me that they are usually off a little with the estimates. I asked if like 2 pounds was considered a little but she said that would be off by a lot. Yikes! So anyway I am finally starting to dilate and the Dr. did something very painful (dad cover your eyes) he called the "Lithuanian Roto Rooter" so hopefully I won't make it to next Wednesday's appointment, otherwise we will discuss induction.

Hopefully my next post will be Monday when I am back home from the hospital, not sure I will be able to sit but I will add something quick. Until then keep all fingers crossed! Thank you!
